Our shot types

We have used a variety of shots during the filming of our music video at different angles.

Handheld shots - Libby filmed the scenes from the hatch, this was a pull out roof part of her studio where she held the camera and filmed down at the visual. This was a high angle of Waseem (the star) with him looking directly at the camera while the dancers were in a circle around him not looking at the camera. This portrays the star as iconic as he is in the centre of the frame, the parts viewable of the dancers are the tops of their shoulders but they never look into the camera.
Some of the club scenes are handheld, such as at the beginning of the video when there is a shot of Tamara and Waseem dancing. There are high angles of dancers with the shine of light flowing through, this give a realistic atmosphere of a club.

This is the handheld shot from Libby's hatch, she is holding the camera down so Waseem is shown at a high angle, looking powerful against those dancing around him.

Tripod shots - The master shot of Waseem singing with the 2 groups of dancers behind him is filmed on a tripod, this keeps the camera steady as it looks unprofessional for a master shot to shake. The master shot of Waseem in front of the white backdrop is also filmed on a tripod, this keeps the filming steady with no shaking.

Close ups - There a close ups throughout the video, an example of this is when the camera is zooming in on Waseem's face. It conveys his emotion and passion for music as the is mouthing the lyrics as it is zooming. Another example is when the shot zooms out on Tamara's face, this is to portray that in the lyrics she is the girl he is singing about.

Two shots - The silhouette shot of Waseem and Tamara dancing is a two shot, this is a conventional shot as it is featured in other music videos of the same genre such as 'Love, Sex and Magic by Justin Timberlake.

In this music video the background of the silhouette is a sepia colour, in ours the background is white and the shadows can be seen.

Mid shots - An example of a mid shot is the shot of Tamara on her own in front of the backdrop, this is to emphasise her features such as long hair and make it identifiable that she is the girl that made the star love her - 'you made me love you'.

Low angle - We use low angle shots in the music video, an example of this is low angle shots of the dancers, this makes them look superior in the shot to convey the club scene.
